Northern Thailand YOGA, Trekking and giving back
Chiangmai and Chang Dao
June 21 - July 1, 2016
with Beccah Bartlett
Thailand is often referred to as “the golden land” because of the beautiful, fertile rice fields of the central plains, the hill tribe villages, long stretches of sandy coast with clear blue water, and of course the warm hospitality of the Thai people...
While traveling“the golden land” you will have the opportunity to enjoy daily yoga,, journaling sessions, meditation and adventure tours. Set a midst jasmine rice fields and forests, at the foothills of the Himalayas, on the outskirts of Chiang Mai, the Gudi Boutique Resort it will serve as your home away from home. There, you will enjoy the panoramic views from the spacious balcony of your country-side bungalow, relax by the resort swimming pool, have access to traditional spa treatments, and walks down to the converted rice barn restaurant - which serves delicious local and international cuisine.
Your adventures will continue into Old City Chiang Mai, where the group will explore temples, enjoy fabulous food, visit night markets, and experience authentic Thai massage. Other exciting excursions will be offered which will include a trip to Doi Suthep, one of the largest Buddhist temples in the Himalayan foothills.
As a volunteer, you will have the opportunity to let your own creativity shine while working one-on-one with the local children. Other activities include Thai cooking class, elephant trekking and bathing, orchid farming, bamboo rafting, plus so much more! These activities are optional but will, surely, amplify your Thai adventure.
The volunteer project will utilize your individual skill set to help support a free health clinic for the children of Baan Chang Nai school in Mae Tange, Thailand as well as an extended project working with a group of orphaned girls rescued from traffiking or an at risk situation. These, spirited, children have very limited access to any type of health care and are in great need due to mal-nourishment, environmental hardship, and poverty. Everyone will serve a great purpose in helping to encourage the children, organize notes, prepare classrooms and more. Together, we’ll continue our on going "love the earth" project by cleaning up the school, helping to cultivate the organic, edible garden and teaching the children about recycling.
Our intention is for you to feel uplifted, create time for your daily yoga practice, connect through volunteering and improve the lives of the children of the Akha hill-tribe. Prepare to embark on a journey of self-transformation!
