NEW YEARS Volunteer and Yoga Retreat
Chiang Mai & KOH PHANAG, Thailand (& MYANMAR)
December 27,2016 - January 8, 2017
optional add on Jan 8-12 for Yangon, Myanmar Yoga Retreat
with Rebeccah Bartlett and Corrina Richards
Thailand is often referred to as “the golden land” because of the beautiful, fertile rice fields of the central plains, the hill tribe villages, long stretches of sandy coast with clear blue water, and of course the warm hospitality of the Thai people.
Beccah and Corrina will lead a special new year retreat filled with yoga, adventure, and volunteering in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Celebrate the gifts of 2015 and welcome 2016 with a sense of adventure and positive intention! This retreat will offer the opportunity, not only to learn and enjoy a new culture, but also to fulfill your seva wishes, volunteering and giving back in a very big way.
While traveling you will have the opportunity to attend daily yoga classes, journaling sessions, meditation and adventure tours. You will stay in a boutique hotel along the outskirts of Chiang Mai, amidst jasmine rice fields, forests, and the foot of the mountains, You will enjoy panoramic views from the spacious balcony of your country-side bungalow, relax by the resort swimming pool, get a traditional spa treatment or walk down to the converted rice barn restaurant which serves delicious local and international cuisine.
We'll celebrate the new year with a gourmet, Thai style, feast as well as, a very special ceremony acknowledging the gifts of 2015 and welcoming the blessings of 2016.
During the week we will be working with children of the Akha Hilltribes to provide free vision care to all through our 'Yogamour Sees Seva Project'. Most of these children have never seen an optometrist before and we will need YOUR help to organize this clinic. We will also work with you to help create ways to bring your own unique skills and incorporate more projects into this week. We have previously created dance classes, proper hygiene workshops, worked in the edible gardens, cleaned up the grounds of the schools and purchased trash bins, lead therapeutic art projects and more. The possibilities are endless and we know that there will be more than enough need for every participant. The children in this rural village have limited rights and access to basic necessities as one child wrote in a thank you letter to one of our volunteers last year "we know that you could go anywhere or help anyone but you chose here and you chose me and now we will always be friends". YOU are the change they've been waiting for!
Once we leave the beauty of the rice fields your adventures will continue into Old City Chiang Mai, where the group will explore golden temples, enjoy fabulous food, visit night markets, experience an authentic Thai massage, cooking classes, trekking and more. We would like to welcome you to your adventure of a lifetime in "The Land of Smiles"
Once you depart the Golden North we will head towards tropical beaches so you can soak in all the amazing terrain this country has to offer! We will be on the island of Koh Phanag which is just north of its famous big sister Koh Samui but much less packed of tourist and has perfectly maintained its natural beauty which extends beyond its white sandy coves and calm waves as its lush green jungle grows over the middle of the island making it a visual dream everywhere you look. We will stay in private air conditioned bungalows along the beach and you can sip your morning tea and coffee with your toes in the sand. Together we will adventure from the mainland on a slow boat for 2 hours as we gently enjoy the views of dozens of islands along the way. Koh Phanag has also been described as a food paradise and we are prepared to enjoy all it has to offer in its diverse scene of health foods, juices, and international cuisine. We will have an evening sunset along a secret beach and cheers with your favorite drink and fresh coconuts. Daily yoga will be offered with beach views and salt in the air. You will be sure to arrive back to your home country with a tan, a smile and feeling relaxed and rejuvenated.

Want the perfect ending for your time in Asia? What could be better to fly from the foothills of the Himalayas to the lushes islands then off to the mystical Myanmar. We will explore ancient temples like the Shwedagon Pagoda, tour historical sights, take in the beauty of Inle Lake. You will be able to take in the rich culture of Myanmar that has been frozen in time and is waiting for you to discover its beauty and connect with the people. We will include a trip to Dali across the river from Yangon to visit a local family who has been a friend to Yogamour for many years. Part of the money from this trip will be used to supply their village with necessities. We believe in ethical tourism and building friendships that will span far beyond this trip.
