Foundations of Ashtanga Primary Series with Linda Banes

  • Yogamour Yoga and Healing Arts Center 1 Worman's Mill Ct, Suite 11 Frederick, MD, 21701 United States (map)

In Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga, we synchronize dynamic movement using breathing, posture (asana) and gazing points (drshti). Primary Series is the foundation of Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga and is known as Yoga Chikitsa, which can be translated to “Yoga Therapy” or “Yoga Healing.” The series is designed to rejuvenate, realign and strengthen the body, physically and energetically, in a way that prepares the practitioner for further self-research through yogic practices. In this workshop, we explore the foundational aspects of the Ashtanga Primary Series: sun salutations, standing poses, seated forward bends, twists and a concluding sequence, including pranayama. All are welcome, variations will be offered. Come to move, breathe and drop into the steady rhythm of the vinyasa count. *Physical assists will NOT be used during this workshop.*
