Welcome to our Accessible Yoga training, a gentle and accessible practice designed to bring the tremendous benefits of yoga to individuals of all ages and abilities. Join us, and experience how Chair Yoga offers a unique approach to traditional yoga poses, making it suitable for those who may have limited mobility or balance challenges. This training will also be useful for those who sit at a desk for long hours and would be interested in doing yoga during breaks at work, or anybody else who just would like to be able to do a self-led seated yoga practice sometimes.
Friday evening, in our virtual classroom, Bonnie Abbott will set the stage with the basics of trauma informed yoga and understanding the value of accessible yoga. During the in-person training on Saturday and Sunday, participants will discover how a chair can become both a supportive prop and a transformative tool for their yoga journey. Led by C-IAYT Yoga Therapist-in-training Landon Morrison, each session will focus on gentle movements and breathwork that can be comfortably performed while seated or using the chair for support. In addition to immersing ourselves in Chair Yoga, we will also discuss and experience how the wall, straps, bolsters, and blocks can help to take your practice to the next level. If you're seeking novel and gentle ways to move and unwind, this is for you.
