I often begin my yoga classes by bringing awareness to breath. This is such an essential tool that we carry with always. Being deliberate with our breathing can forge the path to better health and well-being. AND it’s free!
By consciously focusing on our breath, we can unlock a world of positive transformations. Deep and mindful breathing techniques, can reduce stress, anxiety, and even lower the blood pressure. It can increase oxygen intake, improving brain function, concentration, and mental clarity. Proper breathing enhances the immune system, boosts energy levels, and aids in detoxification by facilitating the removal of toxins from the body.
Breathing well and being mindful of your breath in a yoga class is crucial as it enhances the mind-body connection, promotes relaxation, and improves energy flow. It supports proper alignment, reduces the risk of injury, cultivates mindfulness, and fosters emotional well-being, amplifying the overall transformative impact of the practice. Embracing the power of breath can pave the way to optimal health and a more balanced, harmonious life.
In May of 2013, Dr. Andrew Weil lectured at the Weinberg Center for the Arts in Frederick. It was amazing as he had the entire audience doing the 4-7-8 breath in unison. He believes that “improper breathing is a common cause of ill health, and that there is no single more powerful -or more simple- daily practice to further your health and well being than breathwork.” Give it a try…HERE!
